“We humans keep brainstorming options and plans, but God’s purpose prevails.” (Proverbs 19:21)
I honestly think a good portion of “success” boils down to the grace of God, and I’m convinced that open doors and favor are necessary ingredients in this life. Of course, hard work and determination are VITALLY important, but one can also train 4 long, hard years for the Olympics and trip in the final lap or a miss a dismount in the last exercise. Human effort is NOT everything. I’ve witnessed this over and over. I have chosen to look to the ultimate source of life AND work hard realizing that all the while, there is Someone above all things and people. It is not in my own strength and cleverness that everything I desire will be accomplished. It’s risky learning to surrender to this unpredictable process, but there is also freedom and many opportunities for gratitude as well.
